How do I install the files?

The easiest way to install files other than homes is to use a Sims Zip program you can find them at The Sims Resource. These programs will install the files directly into the appropriate folder. You can also use a program called winzip which can be found at  http://downloads-zdnet.com.

How do I install a house file?

After you download the home please look at the read me file any extras need to be installed first i.e.: walls or floors etc... these items must be copied to your hard drive. you would go to programs/ maxis/ the sims
then find game data and copy the wall or floor file to the appropriate folder.

 You are now ready to install the house, First decide which community you want it to show up in 1-8 then open up the corresponding user data folder you will see houses, open houses file and copy your home there

What are the proper installation folders?

Walls:
C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Walls

Floors:
C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Floors

Roofs:
C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Roofs

Objects:
C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Downloads

Skins & Head files:
C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Skins
